Kansas City, MO - The United Professional Horseman's Association(UPHA) American Royal Narional Championship
Horse Show features Saddlebreds competing for more than $200,000 in prizes November 17-21st in Kemper Arena.
The UPHA Championship schedule is as follows: Thursday, November, 19: UPHA Classic Grand Championship 6:00pm Friday, November, 20: UPHA Amateur Championship 7:00pm Saturday, November, 21: UPHA Matinee 11:00am and Stake Night 7:00pm The public is invited to watch the horses compete during non-ticketed hours at no charge. Daily classes start at 11:00am Thursday, November 17 and 8:00am Wednesday through Saturday, November 18-21. |
The Pink Ribbon Class. The UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show now offers Saddlebred enthusiasts and others the opportunity to raise funds for breast cancer research. "There is a unique 'Pink Ribbon' class that not only honors or remembers those who have fought or sucumbed to brease cancer, but also generates much-needed funds to find a cure for the disease," said Ann Rowland Chair of the UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show Committee. Saddlebreds originated in Colonial America and were the preferred horse breed during the Civil War era for families. They were used to safely take them to church in a buggy and featured a smooth gait and speed to carry men across their fields to monitor crops. For Saddlebreds today, the standard of excellence in beauty, symmetry and balance. They possess animation, brilliance and extreme grace of movement. |
Black Tie and Tails Saturday, November, 21st is the annual Black Tie and Tails Gala, featuring Rupert Isaacson, author of The Horse Boy, as National Honorary Chairman. The weekend's event marks the Grand Finale of the 2009 American Royal Season. The Black Tie and Tails is a benefit for the Therapeutic Riding Facilities of Metropolitan Kansas City. Tickets are $125 for adults ($65 is tax deductible) $50 for guests 17 and under ($20 is tax deductible). Ticket prices include valet parking and preferred seating at Saturday night's horse show.
